  • Lernanto gets the vocabulary of the language you're learning into your head: over 3,000 words, ranked by frequency of use and grouped by theme.
  • Why 3,000? Frequency is wildly uneven. The first thousand words account for over 80% of everyday vocabulary, the next thousand about a tenth, and the thousand after that a few percent: less common, but common enough that missing them can make you lose the thread. Lernanto has picked the 3,000 most frequent nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs of each language: the stock of words that makes an ordinary conversation comfortable.

Lernanto collects nothing, not even usage statistics, and all 28 languages work offline.

The website does not ask for your email either, and follows nobody from one site to the next. It only watches its own traffic: how many pages are read, from which countries, on what kind of device. The privacy policy gives the exact list.

Yes, entirely.

What if I change phones?

No problem.

Progress exports to a single file, which can be kept anywhere and re-imported anywhere. The same file works from Android to iOS and the other way around. Automatic iOS and Android backups cover it too. Purchases, however, can only be restored through the store where they were made.

Which languages exactly?

The 24 official languages of the European Union, plus Catalan, Esperanto, Icelandic and Norwegian: 28 languages in total. Choose one as your starting language and learn any of the other 27 from it, in both directions.

What if it's not for me?

You can try the first 100 words in each language before buying. If you do buy, the App Store or Google Play refund policies apply.

What about schools?

The app is well suited to teaching: no account, no student data, and the trial is free.
